Frank Lampard: Coventry coach in positive talks over new contract
Coventry City manager Frank Lampard is in positive talks over a new contract after leading the side to promotion in the Premier League.
Coventry City manager Frank Lampard is in positive talks over a new contract. Lampard, 47, has been a huge hit since leading the Sky Blues to the Premier League last season. The current deal expires at the end of next season and Lampard's success has boosted his value, sparking interest from other teams including Fulham.
With talks over a new contract at Coventry underway, Lampard said: "Given where we are, we have work to do quickly. We know the Premier League is a challenge. We can enjoy the moment in the next two weeks, but we have to be prepared to work on the background."
Lampard replaced Mark Robins as Sky Blues manager in November 2024, when the team were 17th in the Championship. After he became manager, Coventry won 16 out of 29 matches, which saw them progress to the play-offs. However, they lost 3-2 to Sunderland in the play-off semi-finals. Lampard then led Coventry to the Championship title, winning 28 matches, Coventry's most wins in a league season and 25 years in top flight football.
The former England midfielder began his coaching career at Derby County before spending time at Chelsea (twice) and Everton.
