DAS soon to Roma side: €6m extra to come from Basel
TAS ruling in Roma's favor in Calafiori contract dispute nears; 6 million euros from Basel.
In 2022, Roma sold Riccardo Calafiori to Basel. A 40% interest in future resale rights was added to the contract at the time, in addition to the €2.5 million balance. Roma later received €1.5 million from Calafiori when he moved to Bologna.
But the Rome-Basel agreement also reportedly included a 50% percentage clause for future resale. As a result, half of the total amount received from the sale of Calafiori to Arsenal went to Basel; Roma got nothing out of it. Roma, arguing that they were entitled to it, turned off the Lausanne Sports Tribunal.
Now the tribunal is on the verge of ruling in favor of Roma's argument, Il Messaggero reported. If such a verdict is handed down, Roma will receive an additional €6 million for sure.

Calafiori, meanwhile, has repeatedly expressed his desire to one day return to Roma. But in the near term his journey looks set to continue in the English Premier League or be diverted by a new bid from Real Madrid. Real Madrid are also said to be trying to sign the Italian defender from Arsenal.
As of late, Calafiori was a substitute in the Champions League final; His team lost that match to PSG.
If the Roma management can take advantage of this opportunity to generate additional funds, it will help with their squad structure and transfer plans for next season.
